ntvdm.exe no disc in the drive

just stared getting this message when i log on.
ntvdm.exe no disc in the drive.please insert a disc into
drive\device\hardisc 1\dr1.
anyone know how i fix the problem ?
i am not so good on these things so please please explain in in normal
terms.....
step by step would be nice. what caused this to happen ?

Go to Start>Run type: msconfig click Ok Select Startup
Tab>Look for a DOS Program entry or ntvdm. Uncheck
if there.
