NTLM with IIS, login not passive for domain users?

On our Win2k AS IIS server we are denying anonymous uses and allowing Windows
authentication. The server and workstations are both members of the same
domain. When a domain user attempts to reach the IIS server they are always
met with a Windows login prompt. Can someone give me a tip on why this is
not passive? Why are they not recognized by the IIS server, being that they
have already logged into the domain, and not prompted for login each time?
Also, the IIS application requires Sun JRE. They are prompted a second time
for domain login by JRE. Any tips on what direction I should be looking on
this would be greatly appreciated.

Check the client configuration and it might help to add your domain name to
the intranet Web Content Zone and set the security for that zone to default
or medium low. If you go to tools/internet options/security and look at
custom level go to user authentication/logon for the options available. For
the intranet zone at medium low check to see if it is set at automatic logon
only in intranet zone which might help your problem.. --- Steve
