NTLDR is Missing

I have this message on my home machine when I turn it on.

NTLDR is Missing. Press any key to continue.

When I do press a key I keep getting the same message and
cannot do anything further.

I upgraded our computer form Win 98 to XP Home Edition a
couple of years ago.

The only thing I have done in the recent past is remove a
program form the machine using the ADD/REMOVE utility.

Advice? Should I try to reload XP? Thanks.

A repair install of xp will fix you up.

By repair install do you mean to boot the system with the
XP disc and follow a Repair string of instructions?

Yes.
Boot from the XP cd, and when prompted hit enter to begin setup. Press F8 to
accept the license agreement. It will then search and find your existing XP
install. Select it, and choose R for repair..(this will retain all your
files and settings) Back up any important data files in case something goes
wrong
