My newer laptop is coming up with this problem. NTLDR is
missing press any key to restart. When I look this up all
the answers have to do with installing Win XP over or on a
Win 95 or Win 98 machine. This laptop was bought brand
new and has never had anything but Win XP. Can anyone
help solve this problem?

Your boot.ini might be gone as well. On another XP machine make a boot
floppy by doing the following and try booting the machine:

Format a floppy in GUI mode, dont quick format
Copy NTLDR, ntdetect.com and boot.ini to the floppy
Make sure the machine BIOS is set to floppy boot and then boot the machine

If that boots the machine ,copy the boot.ini back to the root of the C
drive.

Do you have a floppy drive attached to the laptop?
Sometimes if Windows thinks there's a disk in the drive
(or if there actually is) it will report the NTLDR
missing.

If the drive is removable, you could try disconnecting it
to see if the error continues.
