NTFS / File Access Question

The formatting system of my HD is NTFS.
When I right click on a file in Windows Explorer, I get a
Properties Window with only two tabs: "General" and
"Summary". I don't get a Security Tab, allowing me to
set access permission. Given that the formatting system
is NTFS, why am I not seeing the required tab, and why
am I not seeing the appropriate Properties form?

Please assist.

Zach.

Are you on XP Pro? If so, go to Windows Explorer, Select Tools | Folder
Options | View and uncheck the box labelled Use simple file sharing.

Hope this helps,

Thank you that worked.Yes I am working on XPP. How
do I control file access after uploading the website to the ISP?
Or won't there be a similar problem there?

Zach.

Zach,

I received your email telling me to look for this message. But I was away
until now. I'm glad Mark was able to help you out in the meantime!

Hi Justin,

Thank you for responding. For a couple of days I am unable to
receive emails. Due to hosting changes the ISP is making. I
can interact with this ng though.

With Mark's help I can continue developing. However will
the file access problem reappear at the ISP after I upload
my site? And, if so, how do I deal with that? Or is this a
non-problem?

Many thanks,
Zach.

Zach,

That all depends...

The ISP I use sets up all their web sites so that the acount the site is
running as has full access to the entire file system. I think most are set
up that way. If yours is there won't be a problem. My ISP also gives me the
ability to create account user names and passwords and to set permissions on
my sites folders accordingly. So, this is really a something you should try
and then if you get an error back you will have to ask your ISP how to set
the proper permissions. Many ISPs use different software for account
management and that means each one gives different capabilities.
