Asaf.Louzon

Hello there. I googled the groups and didn't find a solution, please
help.

i have an IrDa device and a polar watch for Heart rate monitoring.
Recently something has changed - the polar program crashes all the
time. Here's the error message I'm getting:

AppName: polar 32.exe AppVer: 4.1.28.0 ModName: ntdll.dll
ModVer: 5.1.2600.2180 Offset: 00011404

in the bottom of the message you will find all the technical
information about the error report, but for now I dont know what's
wrong and I'd love to know what happened to my fun computer!
Thank you all.

It says :
" The instruction at "0x7c911404" referenced memory at"blabla". The
memory could not be "read". "
Damn!

That address lies at the upper end of user space. This may indicate that
ntdll.dll is trying to reference the address at "blabla" wherever that may
be. The usual error address seems to be "00000000".
It might be that ntdll.dll is corrupt. What you should do is get into
c:\windows\system32 and rename ntdll.dll to ntdll.dll.bak. Reboot your
system and see if the problem is still present. During reboot, XP will
notice the missing dll and copy a new version from the c:\i386 folder.

If the problem is still present, remove the polar application and reinstall.
Then scan your system for viruses, spyware, and malware. You do have
anti-virus, etc., programs running all the time don't you?

For MVP's, does XP have a region of virtual addresses which programs should
not reference? Back my days as a VMS programmer, we found that addressing
the first 512 bytes of virtual memory caused an illegal address trap. What
made such addresses illegal was that the page table entry that allowed
translation from virtual to physical memory was used for another purpose if
the virtual address lay in the first page of the virtual address space.
Hence, no program could address location 0.
