ntbackup fails in restore

hello,
today i had to restore the content of the my documents folder but when i
opened the backup.bkf file ( i make a daily incremental backup just to be
safe) i only could restore all the subfolders, but only a few (35) files.
All the files should be in it and probably are, because the file size is
over 7Gb.
After opening it i see all the daily backups, but only 2 of them are shown
without a question mark in the folder icon.

Does anyone know a way to reach these files again?

Thanx,

Pieter

An incremental backup only backs up changed files and then it resets the archive
bit.

You need to know when it was changed to find the document.

You would be better off using a Differental backup, which backs up all files
that have changed since the last full (Normal) backup.

Thanks for replying.

I know the consequences of the incremental backup and the idea was to reduce
the time of backing up, but what i ment in my mail was, that the files that
have been changed must be backed up, but cannot be reached (7Gb are not just
directories/folders)

In the report all these files are mentioned but with the comment: access
denied. didn't restore.

is there a way to open a *.bkf file other then using ntbackup?

I've mentioned this in another forum too -- use BKFRecovery to restore your files

...or a full backup; my preference.
