NTBackup

I just upgraded the server that does backups from Windows
NT to Windows 2000.

My problem is that I seem to have lost the ability to
restore files from tapes created using the Windows NT
version of NTBackup.

Is there any way at all I can restore a Windows NT Backup
tape using Windows 2000 NTBackup (or an external product)?

Thanks in Advance,

Bruce

Backup tapes created with the Windows NT4.0 version of NTBackup should be
usable with the Windows 2000 version. The tapes created in NT4 need to be
cataloged by the Windows 2000 NTBackup program before attempting to use
them. There are a couple of ways this can be accomplished.

First try this method:

- Insert the NT4 created tape into the tape drive, right click the backup
drive in restore wizard, and select catalog.

If this doesn't work try the following method:

- Insert the NT4 created tape into the tape drive.
- Open Computer Management, and go to the Storage / Removable Storage /
Physical Location sub-tree.
- Right-click the tape drive device and click Properties.
- Change the Inventory Method option to Full.
- Click Apply and click ok.
- Right click the tape drive device and click Inventory.
