ntbackup faile to restore

NTBackup seems to read the tape ok. But the file size of restored file
is always smaller than what supposed to be. I guess it only part of the
file. Any idea?

I don't know exactly what you are comparing it to but backup programs will
use compression when backing up data. Windows has the windiff utility that
you can use to compare files and there are third party tools that can work
on more types of files as shown in the second link below. --- Steve
