*NT to 2000 file/folder permissions issue*

We are going to be replacing our existing Windows NT 4 Server with a new
Windows 2000 Server. Its main function will be as a file server. I will be
moving all the current files and folders from the old server to the new one.
These folders currently have various sharing permissions.
Rather than manually note down the people who have what access to which
folders and re-create them on the new server, can we 'move' shares from NT to
Windows 2000 Server? By copying a registry entry, for example. Our DC is a
2000 Server machine already.

Cheers for your help in this matter.

There is an upside to doing it manually, and that is that all old
neglected and unwanted permissions will be removed. If your old
server's permissions are in a mess, now's a good time to do a cleanup.
