NT Backup incomplete?

D

Dan

Hi,

I have a Windows 2000 server that uses NT Backup to
backup complete C: D: and System State each day to a
Travan 10/20GB Tape.

The problem is it seems to just "stop". I run a "full"
log, and if look through this log it seems to back up all
of C:, then D:, and then stops somewhere in the System
State. Ie this is the end of the log file, no verify in
the log or anything.

I don't think its a "space" issue as my calculations have
enough room on the tape. And sometimes it seems ALL of
the backup works and the last bit of the log file is
the "verify complete" etc etc.

Any ideas?

NT Backup seems a little buggy, any suggestions for
better Backup system for 2000 server that works with a
Travan 10/20GB and perhaps has daily email confirmation
etc etc?

Try running it manually to see if you get any messages, rather than
scheduling it. Backup does seem tojust stop if it needs a second tape
and it is running as a scheduled task.

If you have a 10/20GB tape realistically you will be able to get 16 -
18GB on the tape. 20GB is a *theoretical* maximum.

Cheers,

Cliff
