NT 4.0 client can't join 2003 AD Domain

We have several hundred NT 4.0 client machines that we need to have
join an 2003 AD Domian. Intialy we were testing with AD 2000 and had
no problems....however when we moved to 2003 we have been unable to
get the NT 4.0 box in our test environment to athenticate to the DC.

error " The domain controller for this domian can not be located"

we have downloaded the active directory exstensions @
http://www.microsoft.com/ntworkstation/downloads/Other/adclient.asp

we have disabled LMHosts lookup

our domain structure is xxx.xxx.xx.gov

We are in a mixed environment (novell) but it doesn't seem to matter
logging in locally or not.

Does anyone have solution?

What did you do about SMB signing in the 2003 domain, or on the NT
boxes?

I just disabled SMB on the NT 4.0 client.
Still no go

Have done some further reading ...aparently I can disable SMB on the
DC also but microsoft does not recommend.

Anyone?

No, you need to *enable* SMB on the NT4 client, not disable it. Does
the machine have an account (object) in AD? If so, what does it look
like when you bring up the properties?
