NSW2003 and Windows Messenger

I have Norton SystemWorks 2003 and whenever I click on
WebTools, I get a messege that says that Internet
Explorer is running. That's because of Windows Messenger
is running. Even if I close out WM the main file
(msmsgs.exe) is still running in the background.

Also, I unchecked the boxes "Run in background"
and "Start at Windows Startup" under the Preferences tab
in Options.

Whenever I want to use WebTools, I have to press
Alt+Ctrl+Del and click Processes to kill msmsgs.exe.

How can I close WM entirely so that I can use WebTools
without having to use Alt+Ctrl+Del to kill the file?

Any help would be appreciated!

Go into messenger options, preferences tab, uncheck: allow messenger to run
in the backgroud and run when windows starts. Now when you close it, it
stops running and doesn't come back.
