Hi,
I have windows xp pro sp2 installed. My motherboard has 2 on board gbit
network adapters, both with the Marvell Yukon 88E8001 chipset. I use only one
of the network cards.
I have a slight problem with the notification icon in the system tray. I
have enabled the notification icon for the adapter in use, and disabled it
for the disconnected one. But somehow the notification icon for the
disconnected one still shows up in the system tray
Is this a bug, or is it
by design? I would really like to get rid of the icon for the disconnected
one.
I have found a small workaround though, if I disable the unused adapter in
device manager, then the icon does not appear. I feel this a slight hack
though, I really don't like disabled devices. Don't like those red crosses
and maybe it can decrease performance.
