notification area pop-ups drive me nuts

I have a laptop computer equipped with a wireless
networking card. Everytime it loses the connection a
small bubble pops up from the notification area in the
bottom right hand corner of the screen to tell me that
the connection is lost. Is there any way to turn off
these pop-ups, not just for the network card, but all the
pop-ups coming from the notification area?

Please let me know if you find an aswer to this annoying 'feature'. I
searched thru the registry for balloons or pop ups but not luck. It would
be appreiated.
