I've dl Nero 7751, which is supposed to work with Vista, it doesn't. It just
stops working and Vista logs say either program incompatibility or program
stopped working, with no explanation.

PDF Converter Professional same thing happens, 'program stopped working'

System Mechanic
Internet Explorer
AVG
Magix Movies on CD/DVD
MSN Messenger
Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel 2007
Magix MP3 Maker

All the above are SUPPOSED to either be designed to work with Vista or
upgraded to work with Vista.

None of then do. What on earth is going on? Virtually every program I've
got is not working with this operating system.

Can someone from Microsoft explain why this is happening please, before I
flatten the lot and reload XP!

Seriously regreting I ever bought this thing!!

Nero 7.7.5.1 does work but Vista has to be in Classic mode.. we can only
assume the Nero are looking into this anomaly..

PrimoPDF works with Vista.. you may like to try it out

System Mechanic should be left in it's box and never used on anything..

IE7 is fine for most even though they may not like the new layout..

AVG 7.5 free version works with Vista..

Magix software I don't have.. you may want to see if they have patches for
their software..

Windows Live messenger v.8.0 works with Vista..

Office 2007 elements also work with Vista..

Try reloading Vista.. backup files that are important to you first, though.

I have had similar problems with Vista. My system reboots for no reason about
5 times a day. I also am very sorry that I bought this diaster.

Did you run the Upgrade Advisor?

If you share the error messages with us, we may be able to help you overcome
your problems..

Vista works like a charm for me, Even runs my old Paintshopro 7.04.
all my hardware works including my OKI 5150 color Laser and Spyder II
monitor Profiler Canon D1250uf scanner, Zboard gaming keyboard etc.

I am very happy with it, no BSODs or lockups, running since Feb 1st.

Regards, Rene

Did you upgrade to Vista, or do a clean install. Mnay in this group
have suggested that a clean install is the only sensible way to go. I
did one, and have not had any problems with Vista. MS has spoiled
us with all previous OS's versions having an easy upgrade path. Now
we expect it, and apprently they can't always deliver it. I don't consider
the easy upgrade a necessity, just a very nice to have feature.

It also pays to use the Upgrade Advisor to make sure there are drivers
for all of your essential hardware. I have a Sony laptop, and I didn't
install Vista until Sony had the drivers I needed, that were not already
available in Vista.

Are you sure about this?
I'm using this version in Aero ok.
I see some comments about earlier Nero versions having issues with Aero but
not 7.7.5.1.
I only have the burning rom installed, none of the other tools so maybe
that's it.

Clean install, I've never or will ever do an upgrade install.
Start clean, Don't drag all your previous malfunctioning OS problems into a
new OS, MS should do away with inplace upgrades,

You nailed it right there. For people that install "EVERYTHING", even
though they usually don't ever use it, are continuing to have problems.

It's been recommended in the past to only install what you need or just the
burning portion for now.

Classic Mode? What the heck is that?
My Nero 7.7.5 works just fine in Vista-64 and I see nothing classic about
it.
In fact, it has a few new "features" that version 7.0 didn't have.

Non aero mode.. I was made aware that only the basic part of Nero 7.7.5.1
will work with all parts of the Nero suite installed..

I did a clean install. I ran the advisor and did everything correctly. I am
very computer literate. I had no problems with XP.

Programs either freeze up and the only way out is to do a "hard reset" or
the system reboots for no reason at least 4-5 times a day.

Therre are no error messages.

I had NO problems with XP Pro SP2. Have a brand new Dell with all programs
except those I new about that wouldn't work with Vista working correctly. I
did an upgrade (used upgrade advisor) since it is a new PC and was
functioning well. Now every 20-25 minutes the PC freezes for 30 seconds.

The only thing I had to do was download new drivers for sound card, printers
etc.

If you were here in the past you would have seen my warnings about vista,
and you would have avoided this frustration.

The trolls in here that claim vista is good perhaps fooled you..

they do an incredible amount of damage..

Sounds like an Operator Error

Or a junk PC

Yup, you're right. The only thing I use is solitaire. I have that new high
speed USENET solitaire app.

FWIW, I am running the full blown 7.7.5.1 in Aero mode without any
problems.
