When I click to the link above, its a blank page and there is the word
"done" near the 'start' or bottom left hand corner.
Why can't I see the page ? What I want to do is to download all the updates
after win XP sp1, so that my niephew can install it after he does his
Recovery from OEM cd. They are using the slow connection. Thanks for your
help.

Mysteriously, the page appears and so I enter "windows xp sp1">search, and it
seems there are only a few updates. This doesn't seems correct. ((The reason
why I asked is because for my own computer which I use my windows xp sp2 in
which after I do my own installation, there are about 80-90 more updates
(using custom as I do not want sp3or IE7 for my own pc)).

So how can I make sure that I have all the updates after win xp sp1? Please
advice, thanks.

Maybe the page is blank due to the security settings in IE being set to
high.

necessary updates, sp etc by using another pc (because sp1 pc is using the
slow connection). Thanks

Hi,
You can download the ISO image and burn it to a CD then try to install it
from there.

If you are connecting to Microsoft anything over the Internet and it
doesn't work, be sure you are using Microsoft's Internet Explorer (IE)
and not something like Firefox. They are not going to spend any time
trying to make their stuff work with anything but their browser!

Some MS pages (like updates - especially) will not render well or at
all in Firefox, so you are forced to use IE sometimes.

I prefer FF, but still have to use IE sometimes. Sometimes, even a
non Microsoft page doesn't work right in FF, so if you think it should
look all right but doesn't quite look right (empty boxes), try it with
IE.

Oh yeah - I used FF and clicked your link and got the expected
message, that I MUST be using Internet Explorer. I have seen that
before fron MS pages. Thank you. Didn't see the done message, but it

I suppose I can update the win xp to sp3. However, is there another way where
if we do not want to update till sp3 (been old computer and worried it may
have problems with drivers etc). Take for example for my own pc, when I do a
freshinstallation, its sp2 and plus update using custom>all other updates
excluding sp3 (the last option under custom). Will try your option next time
and thanks for your response.
BTW, all the while using IE and not FF

Hi,
You can slipstream the SP3 to the XP for the other PCs and try ti install
SP2 for the old PC and set the update to" Notify you but don't download the
updates". This way you will not be having SP3 installed on the Old Computer.

You can use Internet Connection Sharing possible. A WSUS Server too. Or if
you can get the one to be updated just to search the Windows Update site,
select them all, copy/paste the results into a notepad file then search the
KB number on the Microsoft site to download the redistributable. Take them
to the other machine & double-click each one in turn
