Notepad opening dos window with router ip addy

hi Ican't get notepad functional,tried a few things found on the web but
still no notepad; it has a layered cake type thingee with the world on top
as it's icon on start menu :-)

Ahh yes, the old "layered cake type thingee" trick.
 
well it seems that you've given me *a* notepad,but my original notepad still
has the cake-layered with the world on top thingee,and still opens dos
window..I assume that is a networking icon of some sort :-)

Have no clue what you are speaking of. When you mention Notepad in an MS XP
Newsgroup, one would assume "that" notepad. Send a screenshot to me via
private email and/or post more info here.
