notebook mousepad problem?

I'm using a notebook computer with a wireless mouse. Whenever I type, the
cursor jumps around and the screen scrolls up and down. It's like my computer
is possessed! I think it is because my mousepad is active and my hand
accidentally touches it when I type. How can I deactivate the mousepad?

I found out that I didn't have a mousepad driver. After installing and
disabling it, I am now happy to say that I have only one mouse controlling
the cursor. Thanks.
