Not Responding/ Program Error

I have IE 6.0, Win XP, fast connection, etc. Whenever I
try to use a search engine such as google or I click on a
link, IE automatically stops responding and offers to
send an error report.

It says that the file involved is
C:\DOCUME~1\Sonya\LOCALS~1\Temp\WER8.tmp.dir00
\appcompat.txt, but i have no idea how to fix anything
with it.

First eliminate any scumware.

Note that AdAware and SpyBot S & D will each catch some things the other
won't. Also, each need to be updated before every use, even when just
downloaded. There's also a lot more to do than just those two programs.

If trying everything at that site does not fix the problem please post back
in the same thread.
