"Not Junk"?

I know that if the "Not Junk" button is pressed when a
message in the Junk Email folder is selected that the
message is then placed either in the Inbox or wherever else
the individual user's message rules would put it.

Does pressing that button send any information back to the
system that decided it was junk in the first place? For the
first couple of weeks I carefully used that button, thinking
I was "training" a filtering system somewhere which would
eventually recognize that most of the stuff it puts into
junk I do not consider junk. But, I see no change in the
pattern, so I wonder if I might as well read the messages in
the junk folder and then either delete them, forward them,
file them, etc.

I assume you are using Outlook and, no, Outlook doesn't learn from its
mistakes.

I'm not sure what the term "email client means, but I read
and send email using Windows Mail, the program that came
with Vista Ultimate. I have heard it described as a renamed
and updated version of Outlook Express.

Does that help you answer my question?

Thanks.

I'm using Windows Mail, described by some as a renamed and
updated version of Outlook Express. I'm also told that
Outlook express is not the same as Outlook.

Does that change your answer?

Thanks.

If you want an email program that remembers what is junk, use
Thunderbird (www.mozilla.com/thunderbird). As far as I know, Windows
Mail doesn't have a learning junk mail feature.

Yes, they are different. Outlook Express comes with Windows and Outlook
comes with Microsoft Office.

You really shouldn't be out at this time of night. Does your vet know you're
out of the kennel?
