Not enough memory to run Excel 97

Having used Excel 97 for some years with no problems, I am now getting this
error message whenever I try to open it. I have more than 2Gb of hard disk
space and 224 Mb of RAM. I have uninstalled and re-installed with no change
to the problem. Can anyone help me?

Hi,
I assume your video card is more than 4mb and you are not
listening to music via your cd/dvd and you have not got
other applications running at the same time and you do not
have 200 formulas in the spreadsheet and the workbook is
not more than 10mb (excel97) and you do not have thousands
of formats on the sheet. aprt from all this ... bu*****ed
if I know!
