IE8, FireFox, auto adjuster to atomic time and A/V update all connect, but
not OE in standard mode. OE connects in Safe Mode with internet access. The
server, Cox, states this failure may be caused by background running progs,
but I have only those which have always been there.
Am sending this via backup box (Win 98SE); am running A/V (avast) now on
main Win XP.
Firewall, Comodo, shows in Incoming Threats, today, that AvastSvc.exe is
"blocked". I don't understand that. Comodo haas long been a bit of a mystery
to me.

Suggestions would be much appreciated.

Uninstall Comodo, reboot and enable the XP firewall. It's already there.
I tried Comodo and it's a real pain in the ass.

I agree....

I've just committed to installing Microsoft's Security Essentials (MSSE)
after putting up with AVG's increasing hogging of system resources.

It's a positive breath of fresh air!

Just remember to uninstall ALL other "Resident" A/Vs first, and also
uninstall Windows Defender, if you have it, before attempting to install
MSSE.

Download Microsoft MSSE Full-Install (12.4MB)

I use Avast and have no problems with it on XP or Win 7. It does piss me
off, though, that Avast won't do a boot scan in 64 bit.

Have you read the help guide on Comodo ? I`ve been using it for 3
years , it`s ok to me .
