not connected to the internet....

some applications, such as emule, apache, steam, AVG anti-virus (the update client in particular) and spybot search & destroy all believe i am not connected to the internet. However I am, not only do web borowsers, ftp clients and media streams connect fine, but even my ftp daemon works..

I am very unsure what the problem is, im running windows XP professional SP1 and have run windows update, adaware, spybot search & destroy, avg antivirus and online virus/trojan scans with no success, any suggestions would be appreciated thanks.

Looks like you might have some firewall or internet
security software that is causing the problem. If you
have any such softwares, then either you can get them
configured from their tech support or simply uninstall
them.
