Not able to view screenshots with Outlook 2003

I have an Outlook 2003 user at our company who is unable to view screen shots
within the body of an email. The screen shots are replaced with image
placeholders, the little red x.

The solution below solves the problem temporarily, but then the problem
reoccurs about 2 or 3 weeks later. Is there another solution for this
problem, or does it just keep reoccuring because the Outlook temp folder gets
too large?

1-Locate the Outlook Temporary Items folder by opening the Registry and
locating
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\11.0\Outlook\Security\OutlookSecureTempFolder
Navigate to the value of this Key. It should be something like:
%USERPROFILE%\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files\OLK3D\ where OLK3D is
some randomly generated string that always starts with OLK
2-Quit Outlook
3-Delete the contents of the folder
4-Launch Outlook

You sure the user isn't running a cleanup utility that is deleting the
TIF or OLK* folder?

What cleanup utility are you referring to? I have been manually deleting the
contents of the OLK* folder to resolve the problem each time. I have to keep
doing it every few weeks though.

I'm sure there are many 3rd party security or cleanup utilities to
wipe the OLK subfolder. I wasn't targeting any particular
application. I use CCleaner to periodically (but manually) wipe the
TIF which might also include the OLK subfolder. I have a scheduled
task to run the disk cleanup wizard (with no prompts) to do the
cleanup, and it probably includes the TIF (and OLK subfolder); see
Microsoft's KB article 315426.

Have you checked what is the TIF size configured in IE? Maybe the
screenshot(s) are larger in size than the disk space allowed for the
browser's temp file cache?
