Hi,
I have a wireless network at home...my gateway is a desktop which has xp
professional,my laptop has xp home installed....my gateway desktop opens all
sites..my laptop opens every site except hotmail.com could u tell me wat the
reason could be....
Thanks
The problem could be caused by a bad entry in the Hosts file on the
laptop. To edit the file, enter this command in the Start | Run box,
making sure to include the "." at the end of the command:
notepad C:\Windows\System32\Drivers\Etc\Hosts.
If you find a line with Hotmail.com, delete the line, save the file,
and try again.
If that doesn't solve it, are you using the desktop to share a DSL
connection that uses PPP Over Ethernet (PPPoE)? If so, here are some
possible fixes. Any one of them should solve the problem:
1. Install Windows XP Service Pack 1 or 2 on the desktop.
2. Find the right MTU setting on the laptop, as shown here:
http://www.annoyances.org/exec/show/article04-107
and then make the setting manually on the laptop, or use
DrTCP to make it:

3. Download the free RASPPPoE program and install it on the desktop
computer. Use it instead of XP's PPPoE program. Details at these
sites:
