Not able to download from certain sites

I'm not able to download from some of my regular
websites, the biggest being download.com. I believe they
are all FTP sites, but I could be wrong. I've tried
resetting my security settings and removing spyware. I
would try reinstalling IE6, but whenever I run the setup,
it says the files aren't authorized by Microsoft. Yes, I
did download it from here. Any ideas on this? Anything
would be helpful.
