"Not a local host, not a gateway" - What's that???

I sometimes get e-mail bounced back as undeliverable with the following message:

Your message did not reach some or all of the intended recipients.

Subject: RE: Sent: 1/7/2004 10:44 PM

The following recipient(s) could not be reached:

'(e-mail address removed)' on 1/7/2004 10:44 PM
550 not local host aol.com, not a gateway

Please reply to my e-mail besides posting here. Thanx.
