error 550 normally indicates either that your smtp settings are wrong or your
machine is not authorising against the mail server it is contacting. check
the settings in tools/email accounts account proerties and also on the "more
settings/outgoing server" tab to see if your server "requires authentication"
This is information that you would need from your mail administrator or ISP.

Thanks.

I checked all this with Roadrunner.

The point is, I've been using Roadrunner and Outlook 2003 since 2003 without
this problem occurring. Why would it be happening now? Something is
different and it seems to be at my end. I recently upgraded to Norton
Internet Security 2005 and thought perhaps this was the culprit. However, I
removed it from my system and the problem remained. I also removed and
installed Office again.

It's only happening when I reply to a message at the moment. I'm looking
into Outlook settings I might have changed.

Perplexing.
