I have a Norton IS 2005 and it says to deactivate the XP firewall while
installing Norton. Can I then activate the XP firewall again. If not Which is
best: To run with only XP firewall or Norton without XP firewall? greetings

As long as you are not connected to the internet, running with no firewall
is ok until such time as you have completed the Norton install..

Hans,

Deactivate the XP firewall as instructed. Once NIS is installed and
running, leave the XP firewall turned off...You do not need two software
firewalls running at the same time, it will only cause conflict.

If you disable the firewall in order to install, make sure that your
Internet connection is disabled for the duration. Even a minute with no
Firewall will get your machine infected. Once you have the Norton one
in place, there is no point in duplicating part of its functions by
using the Windows one as well
