Norton Internet Security 2004 Download Manager

I uninstalled Norton 2004 from XP and am trying to install AVG Free Edition.
Each time I click the installer icon on my desktop for AVG and the setup
window appears, after I click Setup, a Norton Internet Security 2004
Download Manager window appears, trying to connect and download Norton
Internet Security 2004.
I close that window and the AVG setup closes as well. I see Semantec offers
suggestions for removing Norton Internet Security 2004 , if Add/Remove is
unsuccessful. Any help and suggestions are appreciated, Thanks.

I do not understand why you would accept a free AV program when NIS provides
all you need, including updates.
None the less if you wish to fully uninstall NIS '04 run a search and delete
all files pertaining to Symantec, this is needed to complete the full
uninstall of Norton Internet Security.
