Norton Go-Back and WinXp System Restore

Since WinXp came with "system restore preinstalled,
is it necessary to install "norton goback" ?

I understand that both utilities perform same function.

They are VERY different. Goback reverts the HDD completly, system restore
only recovers system settings not documents or programs/files accidently
deleted or destroyed by a virus...

I have both, Giback slows dow the system a bit but it has saved my life many
a time

Hope that helped in your decision

They are very different. Restore simput puts back system settings to a
specific date; things that keep the computer running.
GoBack however reverts everything, so if you picked up a virus or it
seems like your system has been hosed, etc., you can actually put everything
back to the way it was on a date when the problems didn't exist.

I don't notice any speed problems with it as others mention now and then
(2.6 GHz P4 system). If you're short on hard drive space, GB does require
about ten percent of your hard drive by default, but you can set it to a
lower number if you're OK with fewer dates to go back to.

Personally, I try the Restore first, and if that doesn't work I then use
GoBack, most of the time. If you have it, I'd recommend installing it.

Which version of GoBack do any of you suggest?
I have heard a 'few' times that 2003 is the best...

I am at the end of my rope... It's a 'guarantee' that my system will fail,
due to software incompatabilities - whether 'SP2' related or not, I don't
know...

I am willing to try GoBack, even though I've heard an equal amount of 'good'
and bad about it...

Thanks.
