Go here:

http://www.symantec.com/techsupp/index.html

Under Home, click on continue. Use the online support option. If you do
not find a solution, there is an option to contact Symantec online support
{free}. I just had a problem with updating Ghost and I found their email
support both quick and helpful.

One thing you should check, since you did not mention the version of Ghost
you are using, is support for your external USB drive. From you error
message, you may not have DOS drivers for your drive.

In the advanced options for Ghost you need to tell it to load the USB
drivers, also if you have USB 2.0, check that box also, it will copy faster,
providing we are talking about a Pre 9.0 version of Ghost, the new version
9.0 of Ghost doesn't need to reboot the system to make a copy of the
partition.

question about destination disk

I understand that the destination disk will be overwritten. Can I create a
partition for the clone. I want to save other files on the same hard drive.
its a new USB smart disk portable 40 gigs.

in other words can I backup my personal files on one partition and the whole
computer on another partition.
why? so I can regularly backup my files that Im working on.

You can do a "partition to partition" clone or use Ghost to create an image
file.

Cant I just use the Image file option? I dont want to dedicate my whole
external hard drive just for one purpose.
also: Im using a belkin pc card usb adapter. if I have my floppy and
externall hard drive plugged into it would that cause problems with creating
a ghost image file? casue I would be dealing with additional drivers to
backup.

Image files is a compress copy of the partition, so it would not take to
entire space.

Ive tried to create an image file with ghost 2003, every time it restars it
comes up and says start pc dos.
I see a list of stuff some of the lines are "no drive letter detected"
adapter not present" finding drive letter for Iomega drive" which I dont own
an Iomege drive. I have a smart disk 40 gig usb 2 hard drive.
after the dos screen it goes into a ghost screen and the hr glass locks up.

when I restart the message says completed with errors, or something.

anyone?

Perhaps, you should reconsider using the link to Symantec Technical Support
that I provided you in another post.
