Norton Ghost 12 Destination

Hello
I have to HP Xw8200. I NG12 copied from Source to Destination.
Successful. However, in the alternative computer I got to the Xp
splash screen, and that was all.
I put the destination drive (usb) back to the source. All the files
were exact. However, the drive on my destination was allocated Drive
E.

I noticed in the NG copy that one cannot assign Destination Boot local
disk C: It's allocated by default E: ??

What can I do with my clone copy that is primary partition E: - how
can I change the drive assignment to C:
If I can I can boot up into Windows Xp with my clone/ copy.
Thanks for any help.

Don't know much about NG12

However, from Symantec Ghost solution(SGS) 2.5 terminology of view,
I do disk to disk for drive of identical size (say people would say clone)
If the destination is larger, I may choose to increase the system partition
on the destination
drive.

Do **not*** reboot before removing the usb drive from the original PC

However, with SGS 2.5, I can clone the running XP live w/o the use of safe
mode or boot disk

if both the cloned PP and the original PC are connected to the network, I
would disconnect the original from network, boot up the new one change the
computer name make sure the new one has a different IP address if static IP

BTW, I am assuming your original PC is not joined to domain. otherwise you
would need to remove from domain before cloning
I put the destination drive (usb) back to the source. All the files
were exact. However, the drive on my destination was allocated Drive
E.
of course, the USB drive is assigned E after the DVD D: in your original
(source) computer

you may also want to clone in safe mode even a NG boot disk boot disk if all
else fail

remember ***not*** to reboot before removing the usb drive from the original
PC

You need to "clone" the drive not copy it

Your comment would be the key:
Installed is Norton Ghost 12.
And there is no Clone abilities ; only Copy ; now that is pathetic. In
NG help I did a search for Clone, nothing ; however many comments on
Copy.

I thought Ghosting was all about Cloning ....
I do have a nice copy. However, with assigned drive letter E my disk
is worthless for use.
For the third poster this is all stand alone ; and eventual use for a
Domain.
Thanks
