Norton Antivirus gone bad

i have this annoying popup on my computer that keeps showing NORTON WMI
UPDATE and a WINDOWS INSTALLER program. I checked my add/remove programs
list and it wouldn't let me delete the NORTON WMI UPDATE since it says "fatal
error during installation" how do I stop it form showing?

What did you find when you Searched http://www.symantec.com/techsupp/ for
that error message?

I searched WMI update, im not sure if it will stop the security alerts. it
said that i should delete norton antivirus 2004 in order to get rid of the
alerts.....is this correct?
