before I tell you how much I want that norton renewal to stop popping
up, let me explain my network situation;
I administer about 300 computers. I have a sonicwall firewall that I
use to block ALL ports other than needed ones, I also pay for content
filtering with sonicwall and it automatically blocks websites that may
have dangerous material on them. I also have a rock solid email
filtering server that only allows proven SAFE files to come through
without my approval, it scans each email from trojan, viruses, etc.
having said that, all my new comptuers have norton 2003 preinstalled
on them. A 90 day trial i assume. Now everyone is getting the renewal
notice. It doesnt bother me, but may of my users alway email me saying
"what shoudl I do" all I can tell them is to have it remind them later
until I can figure out a fix for it.
Some text bok answers are "so renew it, youll be sorry if you dont" TO
this I can only say renewing for 300 computers is not only costly, but
not needed, I feel safe without it quite frankly.
The other answer is "open norton, go to options, go to Mics, and
UNcheck "alert me if my virus protection is out of date" I, of course,
have done this to no avail, the reminders keep coming back.
So i would like to know IS there an way to make it stop? A registry
edit or something?
thanks in advance!
