We are in the process of going from Word97 to XP and I am finding the
normal.dot a bit tricky.

In 97 we had the user templates pointing to the department network drive and
the workgroup templates pointing to our corporate drive. That way we could
elimate seeing the MS templates and control our corporate branding.

In XP I find that you can still do this but it includes all of the MS
templates & tabs, is there any way of stopping these templates from
displaying? I read Woody's Office Newsletter #4.09 - How Word organizes
templates and it didn't sound promising.

Any help or suggested reading matter would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Vicky

Hi

As far as I know, you can stock your templates anywhere away from
Microsofts.

Also , with Millenium, I remember adding a tag to the Microsoft templates
box and putting my own ones in there.

Sorry , but I can't remember how I did it.

You can uninstall the Microsoft templates. That's the only way to get rid of
them. If you think you might ever need to use them, you can copy them to a
different folder before uninstalling.
