Non-display of running program

Hi, I have a problem in that running/open programs don't display, not on the screen, nor below minimised or on the right bottom task bar. This happens especially with Outlook Express when I change identities.. "Do you want to keep the connection..." click on yes and Outlook Express goes away, but the new identity doesn't come up, nor is it minimised or shown as an icon below right. Bringing up task manager (ctrl) (alt) (del), shows it as running: MSIMN.EXE about 17K, but it is invisible (and unusable). The other program that does this a lot is FreeRAM XP Pro

I would appreciate any help in finding out what's hiding these programs. The only solution at the moment is ending the task and opening the program again
