Why is it constantly running? What programs do you have running that would
be busy with the hard drive? Task Manager will give you a list of running
programs and processes. Right click the taskbar and select Task Manager to
view the available information this tool offers.
Also... Do you have Indexing in XP turned on? This can account for a lot of
hard drive activity on a newer XP setup. Once the index is built, the hard
drive activity will stop. Check out the topic on Indexing Service in Help
and Support to find out if this is a feature that you want to use or not.
Most home users turn it off.
