Noise when creating movies in WMM

I'm making short movies directly in WMM with a webcam, but no matter what I
do I'm getting a high pitched whine in the resulting footage (that is
otherwise OK).

I've tried all the different bitrate settings and even pulled out the
microphone, but the noise is still there. Any suggestions would be much
appreciated.

MM isn't really designed for this.
If you mute the audio track in MM, does this remove the noise?
What file types are you producing?
Do you have any other software you could capture to? If so, what file type
does this produce? Try importing it into MM adn using it, or convert it if
it isn't a wmv or dv-avi file.
