Noise from speakers

I have XP sp1 and an integrated sound system(Realtek AC97 Audio) in the
mother board (msi) . From time to time there is a high noise from my
speakers. the noise is not unified and If I reboot, it is quite (though in
the startup itself its noisy for a few seconds and then become quite).
Can someone suggest on possible causes?

Any electrical appliances near the computer or it's cordage? Does checking
the connections and moving the cords around change it any?
