I have looked everywhere on my computer (not this one), but I cannot find the
wireless network connection icon and I can't access the internet. I've looked
the Help and Support and Network Connections, and it no longer starts up
automatically. Is there any way I can find it?

Here are 3 possible solutions:

1. Start/Connect To/Show all connections then right click on your NIC and
choose properties and make sure the "Show icon in notification area when
connected" is checked.

2. Also while you have Network Connections open, right-click on your NIC
and look at the first word in the list. If it says disable, then ignore and
get out; your NIC is connected. If it says Enable, you are not connected,
so enable it.

3. Check that you are not too far away from the wireless router or WAP.
Second floors weaken the signal. It is really a line of sight, with some
bouncing of the wall, but not much.
