No "Welcome Screen"...

G

George

I'm using a PC with WinXP-Pro. All I want to do is, when I power up in the
morning, see the "Wecome Screen"...the screen with my 1-inch square icon
("George"...and I'm the only one with Administrator privileges) that I click
on and THEN it goes to the Windows desktop. I don't want a password, just
like the Welcome Screen first.

Can someone help be do this. Mine goes straight to the desktop. Here's
what DOES NOT work:

1) Someone said to create a Guest Account along with George. But I did
that. It doesn't work.

2) Create a (non-blank) password for George. (but I don't want a password)

3) Create more users. (But there aren't any, I ONLY added "Guest Acct"
because I thought HAD to in order to see the welcome screen).

I've tried... Start > Control Panel > User Accts > ...nothing in here seems
to work, am I doing something wrong?

Thanks,
George

Well, you say at the end that you've been to user accounts.
But you don't say where. I'll just pick you up on that.

Have you been here?
start..ctrl panel..user accounts..change the way users log on or
off..."use the welcome screen"
Whether you use 'fast user switching' (same screen) or not might make a
difference

experiment with
start..run..control userpasswords2 I think that if you want the
welcome screen displayed, that box would have to be either checked or
unchecked. One option will go in automatically(which you don't want).

I think in order to use teh welcome screen you need some icon displayed
there (i.e. accoutn exists, enabled, and "turned on". You will have an
icon displayed there 'cos you have an enabled account called George. So
you don't have to create any more users. I'd think that your user
account icons are displayed when you go to control..user accounts.

Thanks,
I'm pretty sure the .NET Framework 1.1 (and/or any updates, if there are
any) are already installed, but is there a way to "see" this and confirm.
Thanks,
George
