No Video on WEBCAM with Messenger

Norm

I have just installed the Creative WEBCAM NX on my system
and my son's. We both have XP and Messenger 5.0. When we
open a Video session in Messenger we do not transmit any
video. The cameras both are working. Is there any
special setup parameters to setup in Messenger?

Greetings Norm,

You'll need to go through the Audio/Video Tuning Wizard in order to select the cameras (for
Messenger to recognize them). To do so, open up the main Messenger window, click the Tools
menu, then Audio Tuning Wizard (it does video too).

If you still experience problems, are you able to establish two-way voice conversations?

Jonathon,

Both my son and I have done the Tuning wizard. We both
get a good video, audio amd mic test during the tuning
process. We can message via the keyboard but no audio or
video. When either of us initiates the video conversation
it sends the call ok. When either one of us accepts the
call we both get a black and white ghost image of the
messenger icon in the left side of the video window. We
are both accessing the Internet vis Bellsouth DSL and a
Linksys Router. The internal IPs are 192.168.x.x and I
believe Bellsouth is dynamic. We both are using email
addresses from Netidentity and not our ISP address.

Thanks.

Jonathan,

We have been doing some more playing and it appears that
when either one of us sends back an acceptance it does not
notify back and the person initiating sits there waiting
for the acceptance. After the acceptance has been made
there is only one way text messaging working. The one who
initiates the video call can send text messages to the one
who accepted the invitation but he can not send text back.
I am stumped.

Thanks.

Jonathon,

I could not get it resolved so I installed MSN Messenger
6. After installing MSN Messenger Audio and video worked
like a charm. Do not know what the issue is with Windows
Messenger.

in your Linksys router, you have to turn on UPnP in order for MSN
Messenger audio/video to work.
