No video from the Internet or Windows Media Center

I recently deleted "Google Web Accelerator" from my computer because it
appeared to be slowing down performance. After removing it I lost the ability
to view news and music videos on yahoo and MSN. ( I do get audio). I end up
getting a green screen where the video should be playing and if I move the
window around the green patch overlaps on all open websites and the forward
and back arrows on the tool bar are greenish and out of focus. I can still
get videos through You Tube and other similar sites. Yahoo suggested I
disable Pop Up Blockers . I did but it did not resolve the problem

Windows media centre will not play any audio or video and seems to lock up
the computer completely.

I am running windows xp Media edition 2002 and I have all the current
updates and have updated my Windows Media Player to version 11.

Again all problems started after I uninstalled Google Web Accelerator

Locate and get one of those huge CODEC sofware packs and update the
codecs on your PC.
Remove Apple Quicktime and try the Quicktime Alternative.

You may also need to reset the TCP/IP protocol stack. I do not "know"
the direct netsh commands but I have had great success with
"winsockxpfix.exe."

I have the exact same problem, but I didn't delete anything from my computer,
the player just stopped working one day. I get sound and the only thing that
shows is a green screen. I am sooooooo frustrated!!!! I have tried
everything I could think of to fix it, I thought maybe its a problem with the
newer software I installed. Please let me know if you have figured it out
yet!!!!! Jenn

As I mentioned before, it seems that a possible CODEC is missing.
Locate and download a "collection" of CODECs to try to solve this.

Also, I had the same problems with streaming videos also. Turned out
that Apple's Quicktime player / codec was causing my problems. I
removed it and installed the 'Quicktime Alternative." So far, I am
able to player most streaming videos now.
