No username to choose from

I downloaded updates for my XP and when I restarted there
are no usernames to choose from. I tryed safe mode but it
get's stuck in the same window. There are no usrenames at
all... so i can't even log in as an administrator. I
tryed placing the XP Cd but it won't boot, it just gets
stuck.

I have tryed sevral times to see if the user appears, the
only different thing I got is that instead on the turn
off computer... it sayd Turn off arq (my username). I
think this is odd.

Any help?

I tryed with CTR-ALT-DEL and I do get a prompt for
username but my user doesn't work

Try going into Safe Mode and using System Restore to take you back to a time
prior to when this began. Boot the system, start hitting F8, at the menu
select Safe Mode and press enter. In safe mode, you will be offered the
opportunity to go straight to System Restore accept it or go to Start\All
Programs\Accessories\System Tools\System Restore.

I try Safe Mode, but after loging the drivers it goes to
the same Windoes page where you choose a user. It doesn't
show System Restore

Ok, I think you need to treat this the same as you would a corrupted user
profile. Check the following Knowledge Base Article and see if you can
resolve it using the instructions in the article:
