No Sounds from pc

Gerald S

Hello,

I have lost all my sounds on my computer, I have not changed anything that I
know of but for some reason all sounds have gone, I have windows xp home
edition, creative audio pci (es1370) sb pci 64/128 wdm. I have been to the
device manager and there are no yellow question marks and I have tried to
update the drivers.

Any help I would be very grateful, my music on the pc is my hobby and I feel
so lost without it.

Many thanks

Hi

I just solved this problem on my laptop. I ran Sound Troubleshooter
under Help in Windows XP without success. The problem was not
software but hardware. My laptop has external volume controls
as well as software volume controls. So I pushed the volume
button and the sound appeared. An obvious solution but I just
got this laptop and did not see the small buttons. I hope this helps.

Hi,
Thank you for trying to help, I am afraid my problem is not that easy, my
speakers are always switched on, everything was ok then nothing, I have even
tried a system restore and that does not sort my problem.

many thanks

Reinstall the drivers for your sound card. Get them from Creative or from
the OEM's website for your specific model computer if you have that sort of
machine (Dell, HP, etc.).

If reinstalling the drivers doesn't help, the sound card has probably died.
Replace it with a new one. Basic sound cards like yours cost under $25.
Uninstall the old one first.

:
Try removing from Device Manager & rebooting.
That often solves it.
Failing that, uninstall the drivers via add-remove programs & re-install
from installation disks/files.
