No Sound.

I have an HP Pavillion dv9000 with Microsoft XP-Student Edition. From time
to time, I will loose all sound. When I open the the Sounds and Audio on the
Control Panel, the Volume page indicates that I do not have an Audio Device
Available. But when I open the Hardware page, it shows that I have Conexant
High Definition Audio and "it is working properly". This audio is also shown
on the Device Manager page and is shown on the properties page to be working
correctly. I ran a hardware diagnostics test through Start, Help and
Support, Troubleshooting a Problem and Preforming a System Checkup. From
here, I get information that the through a Hardware Diagnostic, Code 4609 or
No device Driver is present for Audio Diagnostic (Conexant High Definition
Audio). Any ideas/suggestions?
