No sound

My sound was playing until I rebooted my computer this morning, now I have no
sound though it appears my devices are working. I have checked my speaker
connections and the the volume is on. I have gone through the troubleshooter
(Dell) and nothing helps. I installed the following updates on my computer
yesterday: Microsoft .net framework 1.1 Service Pack 1, Microsoft .net
Framework 1.0 Service Pack 3, English. Would they have interfered with the
sound, if so how would I get it back.

Thanks. I just got off the phone with a tech support person. My problem was
in the hardware and it is fixed. Thanks for the response, I will keep it for
future reference.
