No Sound

My computer has no sound even though the drivers have been installed and show working properly in the device manager. When I go to sound and audio devices, it says no audio device. I have tried updating drivers, disabeling the on board sound and installing a sound card and niether has worked. The sound did work at one time. I havent been able to find a bios update for the Syntax sv400 kt400, bios phoenix-award v6.00pg, bios id 4/16/2003-kt400-8235-sv400c. I'm not sure if the bios is the problem anyway. I dont want to reinstall windows or buy a new motherboard if I dont have to. Please help if you can.
 
talk to your audio device company, get the updated patch, i had to call
mine and the guy knew his stuff. Also i contacted the SV400 company
syntax and they want $60.00 for an updated BIOS that fits with the new
XP pro sp2 power module. Any body know where i can get a copy or can i
download from kazaa ?
